CHARTS - Halo: The Master Chief Collection shoots into Steam top spot

Sci-fi shooter Halo: The Master Chief Collection has secured the top spot in this week’s Steam charts.

The Xbox Game Studios’ title debuted on Steam December 3rd and quickly became one of the most popular games on Valve's storefront following its release. Halo: Reach has also breached the Steam chart, being sold as DLC, it has claimed fifth place.

This was the final title in the series made by original developer Bungie. Halo: The Master Chief Collection is a compilation of remastered entries in Microsoft's blockbuster sci-fi shooter franchise and launched on Xbox One back in 2014. Reach was finally touched up and released alongside the collection's Steam launch.

Halo is also being turned into a TV show. The programme entered production earlier this year and is set to hit screens in 2021. It was, however, originally slated for 2020 release.

Valve’s Index VR kit drops one spot to No.2 this week. The hardware may have a high price tag, but that hasn’t stopped it from securing the No.2 spot in the Top Ten.

Rockstar has two entries this week, the first of which is it’s open-world western epic Red Dead Redemption 2. Coming in at No.3 this week, Rockstar’s title came to Steam on December 5th - one month after its initial PC launch.

In ninth place - Grand Theft Auto V - is the second entry for the Take-Two owned company. The criminally-charged game continues to sell well, it has sold five million copies since May 2019.

At No.7, is the recently released Euro Truck Simulator - Road to the Black Sea by SCS Software. Ever present in the Steam Top Ten is PUBG Corp's popular battle royale title Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds. A new clan system is set to be added to the game, however, there is no release date for the feature.

Concluding this week’s Steam chart is Electronic Arts’ latest Star War Title Fallen Order. The publisher has claimed that Fallen Order was its best selling launch on Steam for a Star Wars title.

Here is the Steam Top Ten for the week ending December 7th:

  1. Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Xbox Game Studios

  3. Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar
  4. N/A
