Halo: The Master Chief Collection was one of Steam's most-played games on launch

Halo: The Master Chief Collection was one of the most popular games on Steam following its launch on the platform.

Going off the official stats on Valve's platform, the sci-fi shooter compilation attracted a peak of 161,024 concurrent players for the day making it the fourth most-played title on Steam.

The game is currently sitting in No.6 behind Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, Destiny 2 and Grand Theft Auto V - all long hits on Valve's platform with the exception of Destiny 2. The big news for this PC launch is that it comes alongside Halo: Reach joining the package.

Like Halo: Reach, Destiny recently made the leap to Steam and was made by Bungie. It's in fact the last Halo title the studio worked on before going off to work on Destiny with Microsoft's 343 Industries taking charge of the IP.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection launched on December 3rd on Steam following a release on Xbox One back in 2014.
