The 2024 Xbox Showcase was headlined by new entries in the Doom, Call of Duty and Gears of War franchises, as well as gameplay for the upcoming Perfect Dark reboot.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is the first entry in the long-running franchise to be launched under Microsoft's ownership. The shooter is set to release on October 25, 2024. Meanwhile, Bethesda revealed Doom: The Dark Ages, a follow-up to 2020's Doom Eternal, that is set to launch in 2025. Meanwhile, Microsoft closed the showcase by announcing a new entry in the Gears of War franchise. This is a prequel dubbed E-Day.
After revealing the game at The Game Awards 2020, Microsoft showed the world the first look at gameplay for Perfect Dark. There's no date for the espionage thriller yet, though. We also had our first look at gameplay for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
Elsewhere in Xbox's first party stable, the new Fable game from developer Playground is set to release in 2025, while Microsoft showed off Obsidian's Avowed ahead of its launch in 2024.
Compulsion showed off gameplay for South of Midnight, which is set to release in 2024.
Blizzard is also working on expansions for World of Warcraft and Diablo 4, named The War Within and Vessel of Hatred respectively. Both are launching this year, too. There's also DLC for Starfield – Shattered Space and Fallout 76 – Skyline Valley – in the pipeline, too. The former is coming out in 2024, while the latter is slated for October 8th.
Now onto third-party games. The next and long-awaited entry in EA's Dragon Age franchise, previously called Dreadwolf, has been rebranded as The Veilguard and is set to release later in autumn 2024.
Japanese publishing giant Square Enix revealed a new Life is Strange title from developer Deck 9, called Double Exposure. It's launching on October 29.
Kepler Interactive announced two new games. The first is a new project from developer Sandfall Interactive named Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which is coming out in 2025, while the second is Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn from A44 Games, which is set for a July 17th release.
Ukrainian studio GSC Game World showed off Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl ahead of its September 5th release, while UK developer Rebellion debuted its new game Atomfall. That game is set to launch in 2025.
Finally, Microsoft is rolling out three new Xbox Series consoles.
