1930s style platformer Cuphead has sold over one million units since its launch just two weeks ago.
The milestone was announced via developer MDHR’s website, in which the studio said they "never dreamed of the reception" the game has received. The studio also tweeted about the news (below).
This figure will be both PC and Xbox One sales.
“Hello friends! Cuphead has only been out for two weeks and we never could have dreamed of the reception we’ve received from our amazing fans! Today, we wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your support and we’re excited to share that Cuphead has gone platinum with over 1 million units sold,” Chad and Jared Moldenhauer wrote.
“We have worked tirelessly over the past few years to deliver a game that remained true to our vision and we are both humbled and excited that so many people from around the world are playing Cuphead – it truly makes it all worth it.”
Cuphead launched on September 29th. The game debuted in fourth place in the Steam charts, but given that the game was pushed as an ID@Xbox project, it's likely that a portion of sales was via the Windows 10 Store, which are not represented here.
In its second week, it rose to second place in the Steam ranks.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you very much!!! Cuphead has sold over one million copies!https://t.co/nHSCe3oKMo
