There's an Elden Ring film on the way

Action role-playing game Elden Ring is headed to the silver screen.

Deadline reports that developer FromSoftware has partnered with film production outfit A24 for the venture, which as of yet does not have an expected release window. The Elden Ring movie is going to be helmed by Alex Garland, the writer of 28 Days Later, The Beach and Dredd, as well as the director of Ex Machina, Annhilation and Civil War – all of which he scribed, too.

This isn't Garland's first foray into video games; he actually wrote the 2013 DMC: Devil May Cry reboot for Ninja Theory.

Meanwhile, George RR Martin of Game of Thrones fame will be an executive producer having previously helped out with the worldbuilding of Elden Ring.

Elden Ring launched in February 2022 and to date has shipped over 30 million copies. A spin-off – Nightreign – is set to launch on May 30th.

A24 is also producing a film adaptation of 2019's Death Stranding.
