Japanese firm Sega has reported that its games business made Y244 billion ($1.6 billion) in revenue for the year ending March 2025. 

The company also reports that this division – listed as consumer under its Entertainment Contents Business – saw a 9.6 per cent increase year-on-year. It also brought in Y21.9 billion ($147 million) in operating income for the period. Sega says that its games arm performed well despite the cancellation of Football Manager 2025; this division was bouyed by the sales of both new titles – 9.2 million units sold, yielding Y55 billion ($371.4 million) – and repeat sales, which brought in Y33 billion ($222 million) off the back of 18.7 million copies sold. 

Sega said that key IP like Sonic X Shadow Generations, Metaphor ReFantazio and Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii all managed "steady" sales for the year. 

Overall, Sega reported net sales dipped 8.5 per cent to ¥428.9 billion ($2.89 billion), while operating income fell 16.8 per cent to ¥48.1 billion ($323 million).
