FromSoftware increases average basic salaries by 11.8%

Elden Ring and Armored Core maker FromSoftware has increased that it will be increasing the average basic salary of its staff by around 11.8 per cent.

In a press releasespotted by Game World Observer – the developer said that the starting salary for new graduates joining the company would be rising from ¥260,000 ($1,750) to ¥300,000 ($2,000). This will be coming into effect in April 2025.

"At FromSoftware, we strive to make games that convey emotion, create value, and inspire joy," the company wrote.

"To this end, we are working towards stable income and a rewarding work environment where our employees can apply themselves to development. The increase in base and starting salaries is one implementation of this policy.

"We will continue to develop games with the hope of inspiring players, and creating something of value."

This news comes in the wake of a few red letter years for From Software. 2022's Elden Ring has shifted north of 25 million copies, while its Shadow of the Erdtree expansion sold over five million units within three days of its June 2024 launch. That's on top of the more niche Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon selling over three million copies since its August 2023 release
