Elden Ring hits 28.6m sales

Action RPG Elden Ring has sold over 28.6 million copies to date.

That's according to publisher Bandai Namco, who revealed the milestone alongside the announcement of the new multiplayer-themed spin-off, Nightreign, at The Game Awards last week. The 28.6 million figure is up until the end of September.

The last official sales count for Elden Ring came in June, when the game had shifted 25 million copies. Since then, it has sold 3.6 million copies, no doubt helped by various discounts and the release of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, which launched in the summer.

As pointed out by Niko Partners' Daniel Ahmad over on Twitter, this sales milestone means that Elden Ring has sold more copies alone than the entire Dark Souls franchise. That RPG series has sold just 27 million copies since its 2011 debut.
