French developer Motion Twin has said its decision to stop working on Dead Cells was good for the studio.
Speaking to PCGamesN, artist and level designer Gwen Massé said that not providing further updates for its smash hit roguelike has meant that it can focus on its new project, Windblown.
"We felt that it was a good thing to stop updates for the game because we felt that we were at the end of an era about Dead Cells," he said.
"For us and for the players it was a good thing to have the game you wanted to make at the beginning. So right now we are really focused on Windblown, focused 100 per cent."
He continued: "Our studio overall has been blessed by that project. Above all, it pushed the studio way beyond what it was doing before and now we can make stuff that is quite ambitious, even technically speaking."
Dead Cells came out in 2018; Motion Twin told then developer Evil Empire to stop updating the project in 2024. Windblown, meanwhile, launched into Steam Early Access in October 2024.
