Sony laying off 30% of Bend Studio staff

PlayStation is laying off almost a third of staff at its Bend Studio.

The news was reported by Bloomberg's Jason Schreier on BlueSky first, before the developer itself confirmed the job cuts on its own social media

This follows the cancellation of a live-service project that the company was working on; at the same time, PlayStation axed a service-based game that was in the works at Bluepoint.

There's no official word as to how many staff are affected by this news, though according to LinkedIn, Bend employs around 130 people. As a result, we can deduce that in the region of 40 staff have been impacted.

"Today, we said goodbye to some incredibly talented teammates as we transition to our next project," Bend wrote.

"We're deeply thankful for their contributions as they've shaped who we are, and their impact will always be part of our story. This is a difficult moment for our team, but we hold immense respect for everyone who got us here."

Bend Studio is best known for 2019's Days Gone, which came to PC in 2021 following its PlayStation 4 debut.
