Report: Concord director Ellis steps down

The director of troubled hero shooter Concord, Ryan Ellis, has reportedly stepped down from his role at Firewalk Studios.

Kotaku reports that he is moving into a support role at the developer after the game's disastrous release in August. Furthermore, staff at Firewalk say they are fearful that there might be layoffs at the developer, though some also believe that it could be repurposed as a co-development studio that will be helping out on Sony Interactive Entertainment's other projects.

"Ryan deeply believed in that project and bringing players together through the joy in it," a former developer told Kotaku.

"Regardless of there being things that could have been done differently throughout development, he's a good human and full of heart."

Concord launched in August and reportedly shifted just 10,000 copies on Steam within its first week on sale. At the start of the following month, PlayStation pulled the game from sale entirely with a statement that implies that the title might return in the future.
