The Outer Worlds 2 is Microsoft's first $80 game

The upcoming The Outer Worlds 2 is going to set consumers back $80.

This is the first Microsoft title to come with this new increased price tag; it follows the company announcing in May 2025 that it would be increasing the cost of its games and consoles around the world. The Big M is not alone in putting up prices either.

“We understand that these changes are challenging, and they were made with careful consideration given market conditions and the rising cost of development,” Microsoft said in a statement to VGC.

“Looking ahead, we continue to focus on offering more ways to play more games across any screen and ensuring value for Xbox players."

The Outer Worlds 2 was announced back at E3 2021 and is set to come out on October 29th 2025.

The original Outer Worlds was released in 2019 and was published by Take-Two's now-defunct Private Division. During development, creator Obsidian was acquired by Microsoft.
