Star Trek Beyond writer Jung to helm Mass Effect show

The writer of 2016's Star Trek Beyond, Doug Jung, is going to be heading up the forthcoming Mass Effect TV show.

Deadline reports that the Hollywood vet will be both penning the series, as well as acting as showrunner. He was also the writer of 2018's The Cloverfield Paradox, as well as the scribe behind two episodes of the Netflix crime drama Mindhunter. As if that wasn't enough, he is the writer and producer of the Apple+ historical drama show Chief of War.

Jung will also be an executive producer alongside writer Dan Casey and Michael Gamble from Mass Effect publisher Electronic Arts.

Amazon greenlit its Mass Effect TV show back in November 2024 though there's since no release window announced for the project.

The company recently released the Fallout TV show which came out to critically acclaim; a second season is launching later this year.
