Fallout: New Vegas writer Gonzalez returns to Obsidian

The lead writer of Fallout: New Vegas, John Gonzalez, has returned to Obsidian.

In a post on LinkedIn, the development vet wrote that he was back at the studio, but added that he was not working on Fallout: New Vegas 2. Gonzalez initially worked at Obsidian between 2008 and 2011, having previously spent over two years at Ubisoft over in Shanghai.

Upon leaving the New Vegas maker, he joined Warner Bros' Monolith Productions, where he spent two-and-a-half-years working on Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor as lead narrative designer. After that he moved to Dutch studio Guerrilla Games, contributing to Horizon: Zero Dawn as its narrative director, before almost three years at Smilegate's Barcelona studio.

In addition to his work in development, Gonzalez is releasing a novel called God Mode: Single Player later in 2025.
