Industry vets form new studio Muddy Robot Games

Former staff from the likes of EA, Sony, Blizzard and Disney have set up a brand new triple-A studio called Muddy Robot Games.

The venture started life in October 2023 and is headed by the former president of the International Game Developers Association, Chris Hood, who also worked at Google between 2018 and 2023.

In its announcement press release, Muddy Robot says that the studio is going to "redefine" the games landscape. The company says it already has a number of original games in the pipeline, as well as well as user generated content and AI tech. It's unclear if this is AI as in what governs how NPCs behave or AI as in generative AI.

"We believe in creating a space where wonder can be unearthed," said Chris Hood. "We aim to return to the fun of games, empower developers to take risks, and bring the players along for the ride."

He added: "The gaming industry became what it is today because of its willingness to explore new ideas and innovate. We want to reignite that developer passion and creativity."
