Tabletop giant Wizards of the Coast has hired staff that previously worked on the cancelled Black Panther project at EA's Cliffhanger Games.
That's according to GI.biz, which reports that this new venture is being headed up by Michael de Plater, who previously worked at Monolith Productions. The project that the team is working on is currently in its early stages. As well as de Plater, another 14 staff have made it across from Cliffhanger Games. That studio was shut down by EA in May of this year, two years after the US publishing giant unveiled the outfit.
"We were actually able to bring him and 14 key people that he's worked with there – and many of them at Monolith – to incubate a new game for us," Wizards of the Coast president John Hight said.
"He'll be starting concept development on something very cool and new – and that part I can't tell you yet."
He continued: "We want to give him time," Hight says about de Plater's work on the new title. "We'll go through a fairly lengthy concept process where they're going to look at a lot of different ideas."
