CHARTS: Pre-orders for new Destiny 2 DLC The Witch Queen claim Steam No.1 spot

Pre-orders for the upcoming Destiny 2 expansion The Witch Queen were the highest-selling item on Steam for the week ending August 28th.

The Deluxe Edition of the new DLC – alongside a bundle to celebrate Bungie's 30th anniversary – took the top spot and follows the expansion being announced in a livestream event last week.

The Witch Queen is set to launch in February 2022. News of this upcoming content also brought the Legendary Edition of Destiny 2 – which includes the Forsaken, Shadowkeep and Beyond Light expansions – back to the Steam Top Ten in tenth place.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite from Cold Iron Studios makes its debut in second place, while battle royale title Naraka: Bladepoint falls one more place this week to third.

Double Fine's Psychonauts 2 also launched last week and started out life at No.4. It's the first title that the developer has released since it was acquired by Microsoft – and thus became part of its Xbox Game Studios roster – back in 2019.

Humankind from Sega drops from No.1 to fifth week-on-week, while EA's Battlefield V returns to the charts in No.6 thanks to a massive 90 per cent price cut. That comes ahead of the firm launching the latest entry in the long-running military shooter franchise, Battlefield 2042, which is set to launch in October.

Valve's Index VR headset falls three places to No.7 while Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projekt has hacked its way back into the Top Ten with a 33 per cent discount. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition from the same studio also made a return to the charts with a sizeable 80 per cent price cut.

Here is the Steam Top Ten for the week ending August 28th:

1. Destiny 2: The Witch Queen Deluxe + Bungie 30th Anniversary Bundle, Bungie
2. Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Cold Iron Studios
3. Naraka: Bladepoint, NetEase
4. Psychonauts 2, Xbox Game Studios
