Marvel's Avengers beta was played by 6m people

The recent beta for the upcoming Marvel's Avengers title was played by more than six million people.

That's according to publisher Square Enix, who shared an infographic for the test event and revealed that players spent over 27m hours in the beta. That's an average of four-and-a-half hours each, which is pretty impressive.

The beta test helped Marvel's Avengers chart in the No.10 spot in the Steam charts two weeks ago thanks to the fact that you had to pre-order the game in order to access the beta.

Marvel's Avengers was announced back in 2017, but was only revealed officially at E3 2019. Before that, there were hints that it was a third-person action-adventure title.

The game has been developed by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montréal, as well as Crystal Dynamics' new Northwest studio. It's set to release on September 4th.
