Eve Online developers CCP Games has officially cancelled Project Nova.
As announced in a Reddit post, Project Nova is no more but the development team in London will be working on a new shooter based in the world of Eve Online. The company previously said that it was going back to the drawing board with the game in December 2018.
"We're continuing to develop our sci-fi multiplayer shooter game concept, actively evolving it beyond the original scope for what was formerly codenamed Project Nova," said CCP.
"Development efforts on this concept are now the full focus of CCP’s London studio."
However, the company is stepping away from publicly announcing its internal project code names. CCP claimed, "we want to show you rather than tell you how we have evolved this concept and we’re looking forward to doing so when the time comes to present this concept as a fully-fledged game."
The developer went on to explain its decision in the cancellation of Project Nova.
"This decision was taken because Project Nova’s gameplay experience as presented at EVE Vegas '18 would not have achieved our ambitious goals for this concept."
Earlier this month, Eve Online players took to Reddit to voice their disdain at the ongoing DDOS attacks.
