Valve's Index VR headset has sold out in all but one country

Valve's Index virtual reality headset seems to have sold out in 31 regions around the world.

That's according to RoadtoVR, which reports that the only place it is available right now is Japan, which isn't surprising given that this country is a largely console and mobile region.

The announcement of new Half-Life title - a virtual reality exclusive - Alyx is no doubt the main reason behind stocks drying up, but the Black Friday and Christmas periods are also likely contributing factors as consumers buy for themselves and their loved ones.

At the end of November, Index VR sold out in both the US and Canada in the wake of the aforementioned first-party title being revealed. The hardware was revealed in May 2019 ahead of a release in July. Since its launch, the tech has appeared a number of times in the Steam Top Ten, often being the best-selling item of a given week.
