The Steam Controller has seen a massive price reduction in the newly rolled out Autumn sale.
According to The Verge, Valve’s gamepad can be purchased for $5 plus shipping. Once the stock is gone, no more units will be produced.
This isn’t the first time that Valve has given the chop to a piece of its hardware. In 2018, the Steam Machine page was removed from Steam’s navigation - due to the hardware not “flying off the shelf.”
The product is no longer listed alongside other Valve products such as Valve Index, Steam Link and the Steam controller.
Earlier this year, the company also discontinued its physical Steam Link hardware.
According to PCGamesN, a new Steam controller could be on the way - hence the discontinuation of the current gamepad version.
A patent was filed in December 2018, it gave details of a new piece of hardware resembling the company's controller.
