My Friend Pedro closes in on 500,000 sales

DeadToast Entertainment’s Shoot ’em up title My Friend Pedro has sold nearly 500,000 copies.

According to publisher Devolver Digital, sales of the slo-mo shooter have doubled from the 250,000 copies the title shifted in its first week in the wild back in June of this year. Alongside the sales milestone, the publisher announced the title’s new Code Yellow update brings with it 14 game modifiers such as cinematic camera mode, big head mode, adjustable focus speed, adjustable player speed and tiny player.

Player requested features such as speed run timers and a hidden HUD option have also been added in the recent update.

On top of this, the game will have a 30 per cent off sale for both Steam and Nintendo Switch across the coming weekend.

In June 2019, during its first week, the banana-fuelled shooter sold 250,000 copies. Following the impressive sales, we spoke to the one-man developer DeadToast - aka Victor Agren (pictured) - about the game’s success.

At Gamescom this year, we caught up with Devolver Digital co-founder Graeme Struthers to see how the label sees its first ten years.
