Superhot shoots past the two million sales mark, PC has around 40 per cent share

Cult indie classic Superhot has shifted more than two million units since its launch in 2016.

That's according to business developer Tomasz Kaczmarczyk, who told PCGamesInsider.biz at Digital Dragons in Krakow, Poland that the 'regular' version of the slo-mo shooter had shifted between 1.2m and 1.5m copies, on top of the 800,000 units of the virtual reality edition that was announced in April 2019

The Superhot studio biz dev man also said that PC forms "about 40 per cent" of total sales, with the title still seeing strong sales on console platforms as well. Not only that, revenue for the game grew year-on-year between 2017 and 2018, which is hardly common for a title several years into its lifecycle.

"We've sold about 800,000 copies of the VR version and a bit more when it comes to the 'regular' version of the game," Kaczmarczyk said.

"It depends on how you count because there's a blurred boundary between copies you give away almost for free in big bundles, sales and so on. We've probably sold about 1.2m to 1.5m copies of the regular Superhot. We're pretty safely over two million copies sold in the Superhot franchise, not counting giveaways like Xbox Games With Gold and bundles.

"It's been going very well for us. Luckily, Superhot is somewhat timeless. The game mechanic or art style don't really get old. We don't see that much of a decline in sales as usually expect for a video game. We still reckon we can grow the audience and make sure that everyone who knows about Superhot will eventually end up buying it ideally. We've actually grown revenue year-on-year between 2017 and 2018 even though we haven't released anything new - which is great. That's a mix of our own efforts and making sure that we are running discounts and sales properly and making it more approachable for new people. We've always targeted new regions so are localising the game properly. We're just trying to grow the audience as much as we can in different markets."

Superhot launched on PC in February 2016, before the VR edition debuted in December of that year. An Xbox One port was released in May 2016 while the slo-mo indie shooter came to PlayStation 4 in July 2017.
