Dino Patti says Playdead is taking him to court

The co-founder of Playdead, Dino Patti, has said that the studio is now suing him.

Speaking to Danish outlet Arkaden, the industry vet said that the Limbo maker is taking him to court. This follows Patti putting up a post on LinkedIn about Limbo's development, including an "unauthorised" picture from its creation owned by co-founder Arnt Jenson. This resulted in the studio demanding 500,000 DKK ($77,000) in compensation.

Patti says that his relationship started to fall apart before the launch of 2016's Inside; time appears to have healed nothing between the two of them and with subsequent releases of Limbo, Patti's name has fallen further and further down the list of credits having initially been on the first page as an executive producer.

“We want to repeat and caution that your continued use of Playdead’s assets and any disclosure and exploitation of inside knowledge about Playdead for commercial purposes is infringing and constitutes breach of confidentiality clauses,” said the letter from Playdead's lawyers.

“By providing recipients with core insights to the process of developing Limbo, you are falsely giving the impression that you played a significant role, including a creative role, in the development of the game.”

Speaking to Arkaden, Patti added: “The cool thing is that journalists like you [Arkaden] can request access to everything that happens. And I won’t hold anything back – I’ll basically be legally required to release all the images and materials showing what’s gone on.”
