Playdead has partnered with sex doll firm for Inside special edition in pretty fun PR stunt

The developer oInside has teamed up with sex doll manufacturer RealDoll for a special edition of 2016 indie smash hit.

Revealed by game merchandise store iam8bit, the package includes a PS4 disc for the game - with a Steam key for Inside being emailed after purchase - as well as "Other stuff".

Were we to guess, this "Other stuff" will be a model of whatever that awful blob of human flesh you encounter towards the end of the game is. RealDoll's focus on realistic silicone flesh (hey, we're going on what Google tells us, not what we have in the PCGamesInsider.biz cupboard) points this way.

Also, that is exactly what's on the box (pictured).

Or, it could be an Inside-themed sex doll or fleshlight or something, we don't know.

Either way, as a means of creating attention and hype, and getting the games press to cover the upcoming release of a special edition of your cult project, this is pretty up there.

Yeah, we've totally been played.

Pre-orders being tomorrow (Thursday, March 8th) at 7am Pacific time. There's a limit of two per customer, with the special edition setting consumers back $375.

The Special Edition is a timed release, with the number of orders being determined by purchases as of June 8th, 2018, after which pre-orders will be over forever.
