It Takes Two has sold 16m copies

Co-op title It Takes Two has shifted over 16 million copies since its release.

That's according to developer Hazelight Studios, which took to Twitter to announce the milestone. This comes three years after the game's initial launch back in 2021.

"Today is not only the three-year anniversary for It Takes Two," the studio wrote.

"The game has now sold over 16 million units! Mind-blowing that over 30 million fans have now played it, love you all so much.

"What a way to start off a very exciting year."

Edward Rumley, senior director of business development at publisher EA, took to LinkedIn to add: "The incredible 2021 Game Of The Year, It Takes Two has now sold over 16 million units. That's 32 million players that have had a blast playing this game together as Cody and May!

"A well-deserved milestone for Hazelight Studios, a close partner and friend of Electronic Arts."

There's a film adaptation of It Takes Two in the works with the backing of both Amazon and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.
