Star Citizen has raised over $500m to date

Ambitious sci-fi title Star Citizen has raised more than half a billion dollars so far.

That's according to the funding tracker over on developer Roberts Space Industries' websitespotted by Eurogamer – which says that the game has brought in $500,111,150 at the time of writing. That's come from 4,096,706 people.

That's $100 million more than the $400 million milestone the game passed back in November 2021, meaning that the funding for the title has risen by 25 per cent within just ten months.

Star Citizen began life on Kickstarter back in 2012, raising $2 million via the crowdfunding platform. It has since attracted a colossal amount of money via its own direct-to-consumer crowdfunding efforts.

There's still no release date in sight for Star Citizen.
