Itch.io abortion funds bundle nears its $200k target

A new bundle aiming to raise money for abortion funds in the United States has gone live on indie games platform Itch.io.

The offering – the Indie Bundle for Abortion Funds – has been put together by developer Caro Asercion and comes with content from 604 different creators. All proceeds will be going towards the National Network for Abortion Funds' Collective Power Fund, which provides money for those trying to access abortions in over 20 states.

Those looking to buy the bundle have to pay a minimum of $10. The offering has a goal of $200,000 and at the time of writing is at 67 per cent of this with $135,839.71 contributed so far. It also has over eight days left, so odds are it's going to make a lot more than its initial aim.

"In light of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and threaten and remove access to abortions, creators from all across itch.io have contributed projects to this solidarity bundle," reads the bundle's page on Itch.io.

"This bundle is available for a minimum of $10 USD, but if you have the means we encourage you to donate more. Reproductive justice is an issue that affects us all."

All of this comes in the wake of the US Supreme Court overturning the 1973 ruling Roe v Wade which guaranteed the right to an abortion. Since this decision was announced, the games industry has come out in support of women's bodily autonomy.
