Beat 'em up Streets of Rage 4 has been downloaded over 1.5m times since its launch earlier this year.

The title was released on April 30th for Steam, Windows 10, Xbox, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Streets of Rage 4 went straight into Microsoft's Game Pass subscription service, which may have helped drive sales of the brawler. It was a strong performer on Steam, too, being the sixth highest-selling game during the week of its release on the platform.

Streets of Rage 4 was co-developed by its publisher French firm Dotemu, as well as Lizardcube and Guard Crush Games. The beat 'em up's latest sales milestone was announced alongside a new patch for that sees around 80 updates, bug fixes and tweaks to balance coming to the game.

“We couldn’t be happier with the reception of Streets of Rage 4,” Dotemu's executive producer Cyrille Imbert (pictured) said.

"We thank the fans who have supported the game from day one - a lot of the updates in the patch enhance the replay value for folks who have been with us from the start. Additional updates are currently in production and we’ll have more to share on that soon.”

We caught up with Imbert at Gamescom 2019 to discuss Dotemu's new Arcade Crew publishing label, as well as its work on the remastered version of Square Enix's Final Fantasy VIII.
