Starfield smashes 1m concurrent players

The recently-released and highly-anticipated Starfield surpassed one million concurrent players shortly after its launch.

That's according to Xbox CEO Phil Spencer, who took to Twitter to celebrate the milestone. That player figure is across all platforms, with no official backdown given for specific hardware. That being said, SteamDB shows that Starfield has already hit a peak of 269,177 concurrent users on Steam alone.

"Starfield exceeded one million concurrent players across all platforms today," Spencer wrote. "Thanks to all the players who helped us reach this great milestone and congrats to Bethesda Game Studios."

Starfield is Bethesda's first new IP in 25 years and launched to a glut of excitement. The title was released on September 6th, though players who bought the Premium or Constellation editions of the sci-fi RPG could play the game early. Pre-orders for Starfield were the biggest revenue generator on Steam last week, too.
