Bungie's next title could be a "comedic" RPG

Destiny creator Bungie might be working on a "comedic" role-playing game with loot systems.

That's according to a pair of job listings, one of which is for an RPG title, while another makes reference to "comedic" characters.

The incubation investment designer role says that candidates must have "experience designing, documenting, and executing itemisation, investment, or any other fundamental RPG game system at any scale," while the previously-reported spec for an incubation art director says successful applicants will be working on "something comedic with lighthearted and whimsical characters."

It's not clear whether these ads are referring to the same game project. They appear to be for an incubation team at Bungie, which could be one group of people working on multiple designs.

This could be Matter, the trademark filed by Bungie in Europe back in 2018. In the past, the studio has said it wants to launch a new IP by 2025.

The firm took $100m in investment from Chinese games giant NetEase recently, which might be to fund this new project.

Bungie is best-known for Halo and Destiny. Microsoft's 343 Industries now handles development on the former, while Bungie bought the publishing rights to the latter from Activision Blizzard at the start of 2019.
