Dying Light developer Techland has not been acquired by Microsoft.
Taking to Twitter (below), senior PR manager Ola Sondej squashed the false claims. She insisted the developer is still independent, and the English translation of a Polish article fed the inaccurate news.
"In case you guys wondered, Techland was not acquired by another publisher. We're still an independent studio, and will deliver Dying Light 2 on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4," said Sondej.
"On that note, the translation of the Techland article floating around is totally inaccurate.
"While I have your attention, development of Dying Light 2 is moving forward, the game's in good shape (and in good hands), so worry not. It is coming."
In January, Dying Light 2 was pushed back. Initially, the game was scheduled for a Spring 2020 release. First announced at E3 2018, narrative writer Chris Avellone will contribute the apocalyptic zombie sequel.
