Publishing giant 2K has apologised for racist tweets posted after its social media pages were hacked.
Taking to Twitter, the firm assured its followers that offending tweets did not reflect its values. The accounts affected included WWE 2K20, Borderlands and the company’s official account.
“We are aware that social media accounts across the 2K label have been compromised and offensive material is being posted that does not reflect the values of 2K or our partners,” said 2K.
“We are actively working to fix this as soon as possible.”
Those who hacked the profiles left both racist and sexist remarks, 2K has since removed them after regaining control over the accounts.
“Social media accounts across the 2K label were compromised early Friday evening,” said the company.
“Unfortunately, offensive material was posted that does not reflect the values of 2K or our partners. We condemn these posts and apologise to everyone offended by the content.”
2K isn’t the first company to be hacked on Twitter, recently, employees of Electronic Arts had their profiles hacked. However, the EA hacks were used to tweet out support for a disgraced former pro-FIFA player.
