Over one million players have fired up Defiance 2050 in less than a month

Trion Worlds has revealed that over one million players have jumped into sci-fi MMORPG Defiance 2050.

Defiance 2050 is a remaster-slash-continuation of 2013’s Defiance, an MMORPG that had close ties to the Syfy show of the same name. Trion Worlds announced the release of Defiance 2050 earlier this year.

After an open beta at the end of June, Defiance 2050 launched on July 10th - with a July 6th “Head Start” release.

The tie-in Defiance TV show ended after three years. As such 2050 is free to forge its own path free of multimedia concerns.

Alongside the milestone, Trion Worlds revealed plans to continue supporting Defiance 2050 for the foreseeable future, laying out a roadmap of additional content releases over the coming months.

A three-stage plan suggests a developing narrative that’ll bring new classes, story missions and end-game encounters.

It’s not all good news at Trion Worlds, however. Following 2050’s launch, the publisher laid off 15 members of staff.
