Half Life 2 writer Chet Faliszek was surprised by former colleague Marc Laidlaw’s decision to publish a synopsis for Episode 3.
Last year, former Valve writer Marc Laidlaw released a cryptic post on his personal blog that appeared to be a coded, gender-swapped synopsis for the long-absent Half Life 2: Episode 3.
It appears the public weren’t the only people surprised by the out-of-the-blue reveal of the Half Life 2 finale. Portal, Left 4 Dead and Half Life episode co-writer Chet Faliszek appears to have been similarly taken aback by Laidlaw’s decision to reveal Episode 3 story details.
"I… I was surprised by it coming out,” said Faliszek, speaking to Games Radar. “I'll let Marc speak for that."
"I think one of the things when you’re working in a company [like Valve] is the realisation that there’s a whole bunch of people working on things, sometimes people would falsely equate me [as a spokesman] since I was out doing press or something and that’s BS.
"There’s a whole bunch of people working on it, and it’s their group ownership of it that keeps it going. A million people with names you don’t know, that are more instrumental on that game that made it better, funnier, more interesting. At this point, I’m a fan, and waiting to see what's going to come out of it."
Faliszek has long-since departed Valve, and joined Bossa Studios last September. Recently, he joined the advisory board for Arizona Sunshine developer Vertigo Games.
