VIDEO: The Elder Scrolls 6 is in development

Bethesda has confirmed that development has begun on the next entry in The Elder Scrolls franchise.

The Elder Scrolls VI was announced via a thirty-second tease during Bethesda’s E3 showcase last night. The reveal followed a trailer for Bethesda’s first new IP in 25 years, Starfield. There’s equally very little to say about that project, but the company stated that the next Elder Scrolls title will come after that game. It’s likely to be a good long time before we hear anything more.

"Starfield is a game we've spent years thinking about and working on, something we feel uniquely positioned to pull off, and we're incredibly excited about," said director Todd Howard. "But we're also building toward the game after that... and it's the one you keep asking about."

The reveal seems to be little more than an attempt to assure fans that yes, Bethesda is working on a new Elder Scrolls title. It turns out there are only so many platforms you can port Skyrim to (Alexa, anyone?) before moving on.
