Final Fantasy XV takes No.4 spot in Steam charts on pre-orders alone

Final Fantasy XV takes No.4 spot in Steam charts on pre-orders alone

Final Fantasy XV appears in the charts in the fourth spot on pre-orders alone, but the game does not release until March 6th.

Steam had a Square Enix sale over the weekend, which meant that Kingdom Come: Deliverance was bumped down from second to fifth place for its third week in the charts by Square Enix’s Nier: Automata. That game is nearly a year old, but the Square Enix Steam sale means that the game is currently available with 50 per cent off. Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds continued to storm through the charts by retaining the No.1 top spot.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is also a game that is not yet available, but it steals the third spot with a 10 per cent off in pre-sales deal. Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is a sequel to the popular Vermintide and it sees the game return to a first-person co-op set in the apocalyptic End Times of the Warhammer Fantasy Battles world.

Two games that are in Early Access appear in the charts. Crytek’s Hunt Showdown drops down to sixth place from fourth, whilst sci-fi co-op FPS Deep Rock Galactic by Ghost Ship Games debuts at No.8. Hunt Showdown entered the charts last week to mixed reviews, but Deep Rock Galactic appears to have had a lot of praise. Vermintide, Hunt and Deep Rock Galactica are all co-op shooting games, which was previously thought to be an underdeveloped market by Ghost Ship Games Mikkel Martin Pedersen .

A few new games made the charts list but were dwarfed by the Square Enix Sale and ended up in the bottom half of the Top Ten. The turn-based futuristic strategy game Into the Breach from FTL developers Subset Games debuted at No. 7 to very positive reviews, and the hack 'n' slash adventure Cyberdimension Neptunia: 4 Goddesses Online only just managed to reach ninth place even with positive reviews and a 30 per cent sale.

The popular Counter-Strike: Global Offensive only just clung on to a Top Ten position after dropping from eight to tenth place.

Below is the Steam Top Ten for the week ending March 4th:

1. Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, PUBG Corp
