Blizzard updates Battle.net app with new social features

The Battle.net desktop app has undergone some changes.

In a news post on the Blizzard website, the firm announces a new soSocial tab, as well as groups, profiles, avatars, as well as the ability to appear offline.

The Social tab lets users manage their interactions with their friends, while the groups allow players to create organisations of like-minded players, similar to servers on Discord. These have voice and text chat.

A beta for this is live now, with users having the ability to switch to this now.

"These features are designed to give Blizzard players even more ways to stay connected, and we’re looking forward to continuing to evolve the app and build even more ways for you to stay in touch and join forces for your next adventure," Blizzard wrote.

Blizzard announced the retirement of the Battle.net brand earlier this year, before bringing it back as Blizzard Battle.net in August.
