The founder of Sweden's Avalanche Studios Christofer Sundberg will be leaving the Just Cause maker.

The chief creative officer revealed the news via Twitter (below), saying that he would be departing the company he helped establish 16 years ago in April.

There's no word yet on where Sundberg is going to end up next, but with a company like Avalanche on his CV, it's likely that the developer won't be short on options. With EA and DICE vet Patrick Söderlund setting up his Nexon-funded venture Embark Studios in Stockholm, that's certainly a place we could see Sundberg heading.

Sundberg's departure follows a huge year in the Swedish developer's history. The company was bought by entertainment giant Nordisk Film Games for $104.2m - the largest single deal in the European media firm's history and likely representing a huge payday for the CCO and founder. Meanwhile, it set up a new studio in Malmö, launched Just Cause 4 for Square Enix - a title that didn't meet the publisher's expectations - and is working with Id Software on Rage 2. Oh, and the company announced its self-published IP Generation Zero.
