RPG hit Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has now sold more than 4.4 million copies.
That's according to staff from developer Sandfall, who told French media outlet Clips du Lundi – as reported by GameReactor – that while the title has 'officially' shifted 3.3 million units (per senior gameplay programmer Florian Torres), technical character artist Amandine Marest revealed that its sale count is closer to 4.4 million.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was released back in April and sold one million copies in its first three days on sale. Within 33 days, the game had shifted more than 3.3 million units.
With the success of Clair Obscur: Expedition, there appears to be the prospect of more content, be that a sequel or DLC. Developer Sandfall is treating it as a franchise, regardless.
"Clair Obscur is the franchise name," creative director Guillaume Broche told YouTuber MrMattyPlays.
"Expedition 33 is one of the stories that we want to tell in this franchise. Exactly what it will look like and what the concept will be is still too soon to announce, but what is sure is that this is not the end of the Clair Obscur franchise."
