Updated: "Nothing to see here" in Remedy Take-Two trademark dispute

Update - 19/1/24:Speaking to Stephen Totilo over at Game File, a Remedy rep said that the matter had already been sorted out.

"There is nothing to see here – this was a discussion between our teams that was resolved entirely and amicably late last year," a spokesperson said.

"The legal filing was simply an initial formality, and Remedy and Take-Two continue to work together in partnership."

Original Story - 17/1/24: Finnish games firm Remedy has come into conflict with Take-Two Interactive over its new logo design.

As spotted by RespawnFirst, the Control maker filed a trademark with the UK's Intellectual Property Office in May 2023 for two variants of its new branding. In September, Take-Two filed an opposition to the new logo, likely due to concerns about confusion with its own Rockstar branding.

The reason for this appears to be due to the fact they are both R-based.

There haven't been any oppositions to the trademark in other jurisdictions; in the US and Canada this appears to be because the opposition period is yet to open.

Remedy released its new branding in April 2023.
