Xbox Game Pass now has 25m subscribers

Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass now has over 25 million subscribers.

The news was buried in word that the Big M intended to buy Activision Blizzard and means that the offering has attracted 10 million new subscribers since September 2020, when Game Pass boasted 15 million users. In January 2021, the service apparently had 18 million users.

Microsoft is also bringing Activision Blizzard titles to Game Pass once that deal is completed.

"Upon close, we will offer as many Activision Blizzard games as we can within Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, both new titles and games from Activision Blizzard’s incredible catalog," Xbox boss Phil Spencer said.

"We also announced today that Game Pass now has more than 25 million subscribers. As always, we look forward to continuing to add more value and more great games to Game Pass."

Earlier in January, Spencer said that subscription services like Game Pass were not going to replace buying games in a traditional manner. Microsoft recent rebranded the PC version of Game Pass to PC Game Pass, obviously.
