Valheim sold 6.8m copies by end of March

Early Access smash hit Valheim shifted over 6.8 million copies by the end of March 2021.

That's according to the owner of its publisher Coffee Stain – Embracer Group – which says that the title reached this figure in its most recent financial report. The Swedish games giant also reckons that Valheim will sell another one-to-1.2 million copies in the three months ending July.

"Iron Gate has created a truly amazing game and thanks to the massive support by gamers globally Valheim has become one of the most successful releases on Steam ever," Embracer told investors. "And we are intrigued by the prospects of what the franchise could become over the coming decade."

This means that Valehim shifted around 1.1 million copies during the month of March, given that the game was reported as selling 5.7 million units at the start of that month and it hit 6. 8 million by the end.

Within a week of its launch in February, Valheim shifted one million copies, before hitting two million sales by the end of its first fortnight. Within 16 days it had been downloaded three million times and went on to sell five million by the end of its first month in the wild.
