Ninja to host Fortnite invitational tournament

Pro streamer Tyler "Ninja" Blevins will host his own invitational Fortnite competition from today until July 2nd.

As revealed on Twitch (below), the new series features six events, each of which has its own $80,000 prize pool. Viewers can tune in to watch the tournament on Ninja's Mixer channel.

"I'm excited to announce Ninja Battles! An online Fortnite invitational series featuring six events across May - July, each with an $80,000 prize pool. Starts tomorrow Thursday, May 28th at 12 PM PT / 3 PM ET," said Ninja.

Multiple personalities from competitive gaming will take part. So far, the reigning Fortnite World Cup solo winner, Kyle "Bugha" Giersdorf, is confirmed to be competing, as is Nicholas "Nick Eh 30" Amyoony.

Last year, Blevins ditched streaming platform Twitch after having signed an exclusive deal with Mixer. In January, it was reported that the streamer was paid up to $30 million to make the move. That same month, a new skin based on Ninja was released in Fortnite.

"I joined Mixer to push boundaries, create different types of streaming content and interact with fans in new ways," said Ninja to Deadline.

"Ninja Battles brings a new kind of gameplay to the community. I am excited to share this competitive experience with my fans as well as have my fellow gamers and friends participate."
