A new Mafia game could be on the way

The Mafia game series could have a new entry or remaster on the way.

On Twitter (below), a single word – "Family" – was tweeted on the Mafia account which has been silent since August 2018.

Many fans of the series would welcome a fourth game. However, the tease could have hinted at a remaster. Mafia was released in 2002 for PC, PS2 and Xbox, and its sequel came out in 2010 on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC
while Mafia III was released in 2016 for PC and current-gen consoles.

In February 2018, there were layoffs at Hangar 13, the developer of Mafia III. At the time, its parent company 2K claimed "These reductions will not influence 2K's ability to create and deliver its products that are currently in development.

"We never take these matters lightly, and are working with the affected employees to support them and explore potential opportunities throughout our organisation."

In May 2018, the developer opened a new studio in the UK.
