Square Enix is remastering Nier Replicant for PC and consoles

Third-person RPG Nier Replicant is being remastered for PC and consoles.

As announced with teaser video (below), the remaster has the rather long title of Nier Replicant ver1.22474487139. No release date has been given for the project just yet.

Initially, the game – Nier – was released in 2010 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. However, in Japan, the 360 version was dubbed Nier Gestalt while the PS3 version – featuring a younger protagonist – was called Nier Replicant.

It is said that the game "invites players into a dark, apocalyptic world as they join a brother's captivating quest to cure his sister of a deadly disease - a quest which will, in turn, make them question everything."

Furthermore, Square Enix announced on Twitter that 4.5 million copies of its 2017 sequel Nier Automata had been shipped globally. That project was developed by Japanese action studio PlatinumGames.

"We're happy to announce 4.5M copies of #NieR: Automata have been shipped and downloaded worldwide. Thank you all for your continued support of the NieR series," said Square Enix.

Three million copies of the RPG had been shipped and sold by June 2018. Platinum opened a new studio in Tokyo earlier this year.
