Bungie raises $1 million for Australian bush fire relief efforts

Destiny developer and publisher Bungie has raised $1 million (AUD 1.6 million) to aid in the bush fire relief in Australia.

As announced in a site update, the Bungie Foundation – the company's charity arm – raised the money through its Guardians for Australia T-shirt campaign.

Since the campaign launched in January, more than 75,000 t-shirts have been sold. The money raised went to both Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service and New South Wales's Rural Fire Service.

"We are blown away by the outpouring of love and generosity the Bungie community has shown for Australia following their devastating wildfire seasons," said Bungie Foundation senior manager Christine Edwards.

"Because of our fans, the New South Wales Rural Fire Service will be better equipped to deal with future challenges and serve the community in times of need.

"WIRES will be able to rehabilitate their sick, injured and displaced wildlife while restoring their natural habitats. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for continuing to demonstrate that the Bungie community is stronger together and truly makes our world a better and kinder place."

Last month, it was revealed that PUBG Corp would also be raising funds to aid Australia through a limited edition in-game pan skin.
