Call of Duty: Warzone attracted more than six million players in its first day.
As revealed on Twitter (below), the battle royale mode proved popular in its first 24 hours of launch.
The new game mode was first teased in the Season Two trailer. Earlier this week, it was revealed that Sledgehammer Games helped out in the development of Warzone.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is not the first title in the series to feature the popular mode. Black Ops 4 – released in 2018 - featured the Blackout battle royale. However, Warzone features 150 players as opposed to Blackout's 50 and is accessible to those who do not own Modern Warfare.
The latest game – Modern Warfare – sold five million digital copies in its launch month in October 2019. Furthermore, it proved to be the franchise's most-played multiplayer game for six years.
Earlier this week, fans were given hope that a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 remastered could be on the way in 2020. Last month, the Call of Duty movie was put on hold until further notice – it will not move forward until parties agree on a direction to take.
What a day! 24 hours in and over 6 million of you have dropped into #Warzone.
