Devolver Digital accuses self-care app of plagiarism

Games publisher Devolver Digital has claimed that The Fabulous App copied animations from Gris.

As revealed on Twitter (below), The company has given video evidence of the content it believes to have been copied from its game - Gris is an indie platform-adventure title by Nomada Studio.

“The Fabulous app (@GetTheFabulous) ripped off Gris and is a reminder to all devs to be mindful of big companies and brands stealing creative work from smaller studios.”

So far, the tweet has been retweeted almost three thousand times. The video does appear to show some uncanny similarities between the game and The Fabulous App.

In an email to Polygon, The Fabulous CEO Sami Ben Hassine claimed that the offending video has been removed. He claimed that “any wrongdoing from our side is not intentional.”

Hassine thinks that incident - currently under investigation - might have occurred after an artist or freelancer for the company got inspired.

“It might be that one of our artists or freelancers got inspired by a game that they liked,” Hassine said.

The French firm was founded in 2013 and is located in Paris France.
