Blizzard unveils Diablo IV following Blizzcon 2018 fan tantrum

Following the series' audience collectively losing its cool over Blizzard announcing mobile title Diablo Immortal at Blizzcon 2018, the games developer and publisher has unveiled the next full PC and console entry in the franchise.

Blizzard revealed Diablo IV at this year's fan convention, this project is coming to both PC as well as PS4 and Xbox One, with the company promising the fourth numbered entry in the dungeon-crawling franchise would be "true to the franchise's roots."

“Sanctuary has been a home to Diablo players for more than 20 years, and it’s with our own deep passion for the series and a deep appreciation of the community that we announce Diablo IV today,” Blizzard head honcho J. Allen Brack (pictured) said.

“We’re excited to be returning to the dark, quintessential Diablo gameplay that players love while expanding the world and story in new ways, and we can’t wait for more people to be able to experience it.”

This follows rumours that Diablo IV was going to be revealed at Blizzcon 2018, something Blizzard denies, with mobile title Diablo Immortal being announced at the show. That went down about as well as you'd imagine.

A trailer for the title is below:
